There are many ways to plan for the future distribution of your assets. Planned Giving assures you that your estate and all the assets in it are directed in the way that you intend. If you are interested in making a planned gift to HMEA please contact dmacpherson@hmea.org to learn more.

Read on for several ways to make a planned gift.

Bequest
A bequest to HMEA can be made through your trust, will or codicil of either. Concerned about caring for your loved ones upon your passing? You can structure your bequest so they are well cared for by designating a specific amount or percentage of your estate to be left to HMEA after providing for your loved ones. Check with your attorney or estate planner for more details.

Special Needs Trust
Have you set up a Special Needs Trust to care for your family member who is being supported by HMEA? You may consider setting one up now through your attorney and designating HMEA as the beneficiary of the trust when it is no longer needed for your loved one.
Contact dmacpherson@hmea.org to make arrangement for this gift.

Gift Annuities
A charitable gift annuity is a transaction in which an individual transfers cash or property to a charitable organization in exchange for the charity’s promise to make fixed annuity payments to one or two life annuitants. If you wish to do this please contact dmacpherson@hmea.org.

Charitable Lead Trust
When you make a gift to a Charitable Lead Trust, the trust makes payment to HMEA for a predetermined number of years or life of the donor. At the end of the term, the assets are transferred to your family or other designated beneficiary. This choice still allows you a considerable tax deduction in the year of the gift. To set this up you should contact your financial advisor or attorney and then inform HMEA of your intentions.

Charitable Remainder Trust
This trust provides the donor with a stream of income based on the value of the trust for your lifetime or a term of years. When the trust terminates, the assets are transferred to HMEA. To set this up you should contact your financial advisor and/or attorney and then inform HMEA of your intentions.
